Visceral Manipulation

Healing from Within

Visceral Manipulation

Visceral Manipulation is a gentle, hands-on technique that focuses on releasing tension in internal organs to improve overall health and function.

At Retrain Physical Therapy, we embrace a holistic and patient-centered approach, focusing on restoring functional efficiency and promoting overall health. We integrate advanced manual therapies, including Functional Manual Therapy, Visceral Manipulation, and Craniosacral Therapy, to address the unique needs of each patient. My philosophy is to treat the whole person, not just the symptoms, and to understand the interconnectedness of the body's systems.

Supports Digestive Health

Helps relieve bloating, IBS, and other digestive discomforts by restoring organ mobility.

Reduces Chronic Pain

Targets deep-seated pain caused by tension in internal structures and connective tissues.

Improves Postural Alignment

Enhances the body’s natural balance by releasing restrictions in the organs and surrounding fascia.

We treat

Pain & Mobility Issues

Visceral restrictions can create tension patterns that lead to chronic pain and stiffness. By releasing these restrictions, we can help restore mobility and ease discomfort.

  • Chronic back pain, neck pain, and joint stiffness – Visceral restrictions can contribute to musculoskeletal pain by pulling on surrounding structures.

  • Postural imbalances and limited range of motion – Addressing internal fascial tension can help realign the body for better movement.

  • Sports injuries affecting performance and recovery – Visceral therapy can enhance flexibility and optimize healing from injuries

We are experts in

Digestive & Abdominal Issues

Poor organ mobility can affect digestion, leading to chronic discomfort and digestive disorders. Visceral Manipulation helps restore balance for optimal gut health.

  • IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), bloating, and constipation – Gentle therapy helps reduce tension in the intestines for smoother digestion.

  • Acid reflux, GERD, and digestive discomfort – Addressing diaphragm and stomach tension can alleviate acid reflux and related symptoms.

  • Post-surgical adhesions and scar tissue restriction – Therapy helps soften adhesions, improving movement and function of abdominal organs.

We offer

Pelvic & Women’s Health

The pelvis is deeply interconnected with the body's fascial system. Visceral Manipulation can aid in healing and restoring balance to this sensitive area.

  • Pelvic pain, endometriosis, and menstrual discomfort – Releases tension that may contribute to pain and hormonal imbalances.

  • Postpartum recovery and C-section scar therapy – Helps restore function and mobility to the abdominal and pelvic regions after childbirth.

  • Bladder dysfunction and urinary incontinence – Supports pelvic floor health by improving organ alignment and mobility.

We treat

Stress & Emotional Well-Being

Emotions can be stored in the body, creating physical tension and affecting overall well-being. Visceral Manipulation helps release stress and promote relaxation.

  • Chronic stress-related muscle tension – Reduces deep-seated tension in the body caused by prolonged stress.

  • Fatigue, sleep disturbances, and brain fog – Supports nervous system balance, improving sleep and cognitive function.

  • Anxiety and emotional trauma stored in the body – Helps release suppressed emotions that may be affecting physical health.

My Background

I’m Vidhi Shastri, PT, MS, CFMT, a dedicated physical therapist with a deep passion for helping others achieve optimal health and well-being. My journey began in India, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in physical therapy in 2009. After working in India for a year, I decided to further my education in the United States. I pursued my Master’s degree in exercise science and kinesiology at California Baptist University, Riverside, CA, and graduated in 2012. Since then, I’ve worked in various outpatient practices in the Upper East Side and Midtown, New York City, gaining valuable experience in treating a wide range of conditions.

During my time in New York, I was introduced to Functional Manual Therapy (FMT), an integrated approach that combines mechanical treatment of the joints, soft tissues, visceral, and neurovascular systems with manual neuromuscular facilitation. This method resonated with me, and I became a Certified Functional Manual Therapist (CFMT) in August 2018 through the Institute of Physical Art. My continuous curiosity about the body and its systems led me to further explore Visceral Manipulation and Neural Manipulation at the Barral Institute and Craniosacral Therapy at the Upledger Institute since October 2018. These experiences have enriched my practice, allowing me to provide comprehensive and holistic care to my patients.
